Saudi Arabia’s mega-project, Diriyah Gate, begins phase one of the $20 billion project, as announced by the Diriyah Gate Development Authority. The first stage includes work on below-ground infrastructure with 3 kilometers of tunnel and over 10,000 car parking spaces covering more than one million square meters. Diriyah Gate is expected to be one of Saudi Arabia’s top tourist destinations and will have 20 hotels, 100 restaurants, a retail center, and museums for 25 million annual visitors.
