The King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) and the U.S.-Saudi Business Council (USSBC), together hosted a biotechnology reception during the BIO International Convention in San Diego on June 24th, 2026, bringing together industry leaders, researchers, investors, and policymakers to explore opportunities within Saudi Arabia’s rapidly expanding biotechnology sector and discuss the upcoming Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit (RGMBS) 2026 under the patronage of His Royal Highness (HRH) Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia.
The reception featured presentations highlighting Saudi Arabia’s biotechnology ecosystem, including KAIMRC’s cell and gene therapy roadmap, advances in biotechnology research and education, and the Kingdom’s growing scientific infrastructure supporting innovation and commercialization. Attendees also received an overview of RGMBS 2026 and its role in advancing the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s National Biotechnology Strategy and Vision 2030.
“Saudi Arabia is making significant investments across the biotechnology value chain, from research and talent development to advanced therapeutics and innovation infrastructure. RGMBS serves as a platform to connect global expertise with emerging opportunities in the Kingdom, fostering partnerships that advance scientific discovery and improve health outcomes,” said His Excellency Dr. Bandar Alknawy, Chairman of KAIMRC Executive Council.
“The United States and Saudi Arabia share significant opportunities for collaboration in biotechnology, healthcare innovation, and life sciences investment,” said Charles Hallab, President and CEO of the U.S.-Saudi Business Council. “Through initiatives like RGMBS, we are strengthening connections between innovators, institutions, and investors while advancing the partnerships that support scientific discovery, business growth, and improved health outcomes in both countries.”
The reception provided an opportunity for BIO attendees to engage directly with Saudi stakeholders and learn more about the Kingdom’s growing biotechnology ecosystem ahead of RGMBS 2026, which will take place September 14–16, 2026, in Riyadh.
