The U.S.-Saudi Business Council (USSBC) recently participated in the Global Health Exhibition (GHE) in Riyadh, held from October 21-23, 2024. The USSBC supported conference organizers with promotional and program assistance in the leadup to the event. At the exhibition, USSBC representatives met with international healthcare providers, innovative healthtech startups, global thought leaders, and government stakeholders to discuss the future of U.S.-Saudi collaboration in healthcare. The GHE has been held annually for over 10 years and is the largest event in the Saudi healthcare market, which accounts for 60 percent of the GCC region’s healthcare expenditures.
The event featured exhibitors from over 40 countries, 1,200+ exhibiting brands, 100+ hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME) content, and over 500 speakers. The exhibition covered every facet of the global healthcare system and its latest areas of high-growth, including hospitals, imaging & radiology, healthcare digitalization, laboratories, medical devices, and biotech.
Saudi Arabia’s healthcare sector is a primary focus of growth and development under the goals of Vision 2030, and is witnessing substantial transformation from a mix of private and public sector initiatives and partnerships. According to the Saudi Ministry of Health, healthcare’s contribution to the Kingdom’s GDP is projected to reach $66.6 billion and create over 245,000 jobs by 2030. Healthcare expenditure on infrastructure, technologies, and services increased from $46.6 billion in 2018 to $68.2 billion in 2023. Key directions focus on disease prevention, infrastructure development, privatization of facilities and services, workforce development, and digital health, which involves adopting the field’s latest technologies to improve clinical decisions, service delivery, and operations efficiency.
The USSBC travels each year to Riyadh for the GHE and counts among its members several prominent healthcare leaders and innovators. To learn about how membership with the Business Council can open opportunities for you in the growing Saudi healthcare market, click here.
