Post-Event Summary: Minnesota and Washington State Roadshows

Minnesota

The U.S.-Saudi Business Council (USSBC), along with the Minnesota Trade Office (MTO) and Global Minnesota, met with over 50 in-person and virtual attendees representing nearly 40 companies and organizations, in Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 28, 2022, to discuss market opportunities in Saudi Arabia’s various sectors. Led by President and CEO H. Delano Roosevelt, the Council reviewed opportunities in newly emerging industries of tourism, sports and entertainment, as well as traditionally strong export opportunities in defense and security, power, energy, mining, water and water treatment, and medical health — with a special emphasis on new technologies driving development in these sectors.

The Minnesota event saw 54 total attendees, comprising 30 in-person attendees and 24 virtual attendees. The USSBC held a meeting with the MTO following the event. The attendees included high-level representatives from Minnesota-based companies representing a wide cross-section of economic sectors. Mark Ritchie, President of Global Minnesota, gave welcoming remarks and Saudi Ambassador HRH Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud sent a brief recorded message. The MTO was represented by Abdiwahab Mohamed, Regional Trade Manager/Protocol Officer.

Washington

Following the Minnesota event, Mr. Roosevelt visited the state of Washington for meetings with long-time government state partners, new members, and new collaborative partners to explore trade and investment opportunities in the Kingdom. Mr. Roosevelt further met with the state’s Office of Economic Development & Competitiveness and the Seattle U.S. Export Assistance Center to discuss the Council’s upcoming events. The trip concluded with meetings with Business Council members in the area. The Business Council has had an ongoing relationship with Washington state for international trade promotion for more than 10 years.
