AECOM, a U.S.-based leader in infrastructure consulting, has been chosen to design the transportation and utilities backbone infrastructure as well as provide environmental and geotechnical support for the Saudi gigaproject NEOM. NEOM, a planned $500 billion futuristic smart city in the northwest of Saudi Arabia, will eventually be powered by 100 percent renewable energy and will showcase a new model for the future of urbanization and sustainability. AECOM will carry out its project management consultancy and infrastructure design services with the latest innovations in digital project tools at its disposal, adopting a data-led delivery process and providing information-rich 3D models and geospatial data. This latest appointment follows AECOM’s contract awarded in July 2019 to provide project management consultancy services for NEOM’s “phase one” construction.
