In Durham, North Carolina, from November 13-14, 2024, the U.S.-Saudi Business Council (USSBC), represented by Director of Economic Research Albara’a Alwazir, participated in the the inaugural North Carolina Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) Symposium on Advanced Mobility. In representing the Business Council, Mr. Alwazir met with innovative companies interested in bringing their products and services to the Saudi market and learned about opportunities, challenges, and innovations in the advanced and autonomous mobility sector.

The symposium included panel discussions, networking opportunities, and presentations from industry-leading stakeholders in industry, academia, government, and the private sector. The agenda included a keynote session from USSBC Board member and Chairman’s Circle member Honeywell International, in addition to sessions led by North Carolina state agencies and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina.

During the AUVSI Symposium, Mr. Alwazir engaged with representatives from leading companies at the forefront of advanced mobility. The discussions covered their technologies, market strategies, and opportunities for collaboration. A key topic of interest during the Business Council’s discussions was the viability and demand for cutting-edge solutions in logistics, defense, energy, and AI-driven mobility technologies. Other specific challenges and opportunities discussed included those in last-mile logistics services, AI situational awareness and decision-making, drone delivery technology, renewable energy storage and power solutions, predictive maintenance, and much more.
