Jacobs, a Chairman’s Circle member of the U.S.-Saudi Business Council (USSBC), has been chosen by NEOM to provide project and management consultancy services for the design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning of NEOM’s “THE LINE.” When complete, THE LINE will be home to a connected series of mixed-use, car-free cities powered entirely by clean energy, connected by high-speed rail, and utilizing the latest “smart city” technologies.
Jacobs’ embedded expertise and depth of knowledge attained on projects and programs in Saudi Arabia over the last 70 years, including Jeddah Islamic Port and multiple Aramco projects, alongside its experience delivering multibillion-dollar transformational building and infrastructure development projects that support the Vision 2030 such as Red Sea Landside Terminal, will be valuable in helping NEOM realize its ambitious and future-facing development plans.
Jacobs Executive Chair Steven Demetriou, who also serves as the USSBC’s U.S. Co-Chair, remarked that “this project is intending to re-write the playbook on urban development to address some of the major environmental and quality of life challenges we often see in big cities. We are committed to helping deliver projects that aspire to completely reimagine urban living and rethink what it means to live in a more connected, sustainable world.”
NEOM, a member of the USSBC, will work concurrently on connected developments such as TROJENA, OXAGON, and Sindalah Island in the Red Sea. As a NEOM delivery partner, Jacobs will also be responsible for managing the overlap between NEOM’s adjacent projects in conjunction with JASARA, a Jacobs, Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Saudi Aramco joint venture providing professional program and construction management services for social infrastructure projects throughout Saudi Arabia and across the Middle East.
