General Electric Company (GE) and Saudi Aramco delivered the Kingdom’s first wind turbine. The turbine will be placed in Turaif to provide power for Saudi Aramco’s Bulk Plant in northwest Saudi Arabia, and it is expected to be commissioned in January 2017. The GE turbine will generate power up to 2.75 megawatts. Saudi Aramco partnered with GE in order to promote wind power and further its goals for renewable energy alternatives. Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 aims to produce 9.5 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2030.
