On July 27th, Saudi Arabia’s Sports Minister H.R.H Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal unveiled the Mahd Sports Academy. The sports academy, one of the largest in the world, will help the Ministry promote sporting activities among the country’s next generation to produce international competitors in soccer, basketball, handball, weightlifting, swimming, martial arts, gymnastics, rowing, badminton, and more. The project will also target all regions and cities in the Kingdom, nurturing sporting skills in youth from the age of 6 all the way up to the international level. Construction will take place in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam starting in 2021, with the project’s facilities incorporating modern engineering styles and cutting-edge equipment. The project aims to elevate Saudi Arabia’s presence on the world sporting stage, and its facilities and programs will also help promote a healthy, active lifestyle among youth and young adults across the country.
