January 14, 2017 – Aramco Services Company, a subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, and Achates Power have signed a joint development agreement aimed at curbing high-emission motors. The two companies will cooperate on a series of Opposed-Piston (OP) Engine projects to facilitate the development of efficient, low-emissions powertrain choices. The Achates OP Engine is a state-of-the-art engine designed to increase fuel efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and cost less than conventional engines. Aramco Services Company and Achates Power are currently showcasing a light-duty truck with an Opposed-Piston Gasoline Compression Ignition Engine during the 2018 North American International Auto Show.
