Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma’aden) and the Saudi Arabia National Automotive Manufacturing Company (SANAM) agreed to increase the amount of aluminum in vehicles made in the Kingdom. The aluminum parts are expected to be manufactured at the Ras Al-Zour factory, a joint venture between Ma’aden and Alcoa. The plant has a refinery that produces 1.8 million metric tons of alumina per year and an aluminum smelter that makes 750,000 metric tons per year. SANAM expects to use the products at its upcoming Jubail automobile manufacturing facility.
