G20 Saudi Arabia supports the launch of Access to COVID-19 Tools (ACT) Accelerator, a global collaboration to accelerate the development, production and equitable access to the latest COVID-19 therapeutics, vaccines, and diagnostics. ACT Accelerator will become a global platform for action to improve connectivity and leverage strengths of global partnerships to work with speed and scale.
The Saudi Minister of Finance, H.E. Mohammed Al-Jadaan, joined the launching event of ACT Accelerator and reinforced the uncertainty the global community is facing about COVID-19 and the urgency to cooperate to combat this pandemic together. Saudi Arabia, as the G20 Presidency, contributed $500 million to support global efforts in fighting the pandemic and calls on all countries, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector to support closing the $8 billion financial gap required to combat COVID-19.
